Coleus are FUN to grow, FASCINATING to collect, and definitely HOT: their popularity has skyrocketed over the last decade.

Do you like coleus?

Would you consider joining a group of like-minded people?

Ray Rogers, author of Coleus: Rainbow Foliage for Containers and Gardens (Timber Press, 2008) and longtime coleus grower, wants to help form a Coleus Society to bring coleus enthusiasts together. Would you like to become part of this exciting process? Together we can learn from each other, tell others about the rewards of growing coleus, and have a great time as we give coleus the organizational recognition already provided to other favorite, widely grown plants.

Possible roles of
The Coleus Society:

Publish and exchange printed and online information on growing coleus (including coleus propagation, coleus pests, coleus diseases, and coleus problems), training coleus into special forms (including coleus topiaries, coleus bonsai, and specimen coleus), and many other aspects of growing and enjoying coleus.

Create and maintain an exhaustive reference collection of coleus photographs (including coleus in gardens, coleus in containers, and close-up specimen photographs of coleus) and related information on coleus.

Record newly introduced coleus varieties and sort out the confusion created by multiple and incorrect coleus cultivar names.

Develop a comprehensive list of coleus sources (including coleus nurseries and coleus hybridizers) and other coleus resources, including printed and online information on coleus.

Produce guidelines and support for local, regional, and national coleus shows and coleus competitions that could include cut specimens of coleus, show-quality coleus grown in containers, floral designs featuring coleus, and coleus photography.

Socialize with other coleus enthusiasts at meetings and online.
